Rick Waters is a passionate Agile Coach and Certified Scrum Trainer with over 15 years of experience in software engineering and a dedication to fostering Agile practices. He leverages his expertise through Wisecrum Associates, his training company, to equip teams with the tools and frameworks needed to thrive in fast-paced environments. Rick excels in both in-person and virtual training, delivering engaging sessions on Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) classes. He further extends his knowledge by offering advanced courses like Advanced CSM and Dysfunction Mapping.
Rick's reputation precedes him, recognized as one of the top facilitators in the Agile product development space. His ability to guide complex discussions and ignite collaboration is a cornerstone of his success. Rick's commitment extends to his memberships in the Scrum Alliance and Agile Alliance, where he actively contributes to the advancement of Agile practices.
Prior to establishing Wisecrum Associates, Rick honed his coaching skills across various esteemed organizations. He served as an Agile Coach at JP Morgan Chase, Allstate, Capital One, and Nokia, further solidifying his understanding of Agile methodologies in diverse settings. His background also encompasses 15 years as a software engineer, providing a valuable vantage point that bridges technical expertise with coaching acumen.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Rick is a dedicated advocate for US military veterans. For the past five years, he has spearheaded an unofficial non-profit organization, Scrum.Vet, which is focused on educational opportunities for veterans. He is also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
